Read the curve the way a risk manager would.

Forex signals and backtests are marketed with equity curves. Monetio exists to read those curves the way a risk manager would, and say plainly what they show.

Why we built it

Most blown accounts we looked at had a clean track record right up until the day they didn't. The warning signs were in the data all along: stacked grid positions, deposits landing at every drawdown low, profits that would not have survived a realistic spread.

Finding those signs by hand takes a spreadsheet and some statistics. Monetio does it in under a minute and shows the reasoning behind every flag so it can be checked, not just trusted.

Principles

Read the file, not the marketing page
A verdict comes from the trade-by-trade history you upload, never from a signal page's own summary. The numbers a marketing page chooses to show are not the numbers that decide whether a strategy is sound.
No affiliation with sellers or brokers
Monetio is not paid by signal providers, EA vendors or brokers, and does not link to any of them. Its only interest is an accurate read of the file in front of it.

The verdict scale

Every report gets one of five grades, with a confidence that depends on how many trades the file contains. "Not investment advice" appears on every page that shows one.

GradeWhat it means
ANo material risk flags found. The record supports its own numbers.
BSound overall, with one or two flags worth reading before deciding.
CReal weaknesses: a masked drawdown, a grid or a concentrated result.
DSeveral risk flags together; treat the headline numbers with real caution.
FResults implausible or structural risk high enough to call the record unreliable.

The corpus

The detector thresholds are calibrated on about 3,000 anonymized MetaTrader and signal histories spanning several years, including signals that collapsed. That record of what failed, not just what looks fine today, is what the calibration work is built on.

No account, signal provider, EA vendor or person is ever named in a fixture, a report or a post. Everything published here is anonymized or aggregated.

Corrections

If a post, a glossary term or a comparison page gets something wrong, we correct it and leave a short note explaining the change, dated, at the foot of the corrected page.
